Village Park Eco Home Open for Tours
Whether you’re interested in home improvements, in the market for a new home or just love touring designer houses, the Village Park Eco Home is THE place to be this weekend!
The contemporary hill country style home was built to answer the question, “What’s next in high-performance home construction?” And the answers are cutting edge!
The newly constructed and fully furnished residence is a certified Department of Energy Challenge Home, meaning it uses at least 30 percent less energy than current energy codes. But living green does NOT mean sacrificing style or performance, and we’ve included a few pictures to prove it!
Atkins Design Group created the layout for the 3,752 square foot home and we were honored to design and furnish the interior spaces. Features include advanced framing and insulation techniques, LED lighting, a rainwater collection system, custom formaldahyde-free cabinets, “standing dead” Red Oak floors from Wisconsin and numerous sustainable and recycled materials such as glass, bamboo and cork.
Oh, and did we mention 23 paint colors were used in its design? That’s reason enough to visit!
Plus, one bedroom is specifically designed to reflect the wish of a very imaginative nine-year-old girl named Cassidy, a Make-A-Wish® North Texas recipient. Cassidy’s wish was to be a zookeeper and her dream was recently fulfilled in March when she visited the San Diego Zoo and worked as a zoo keeper. Worlds of Wow! did an amazing job helping us design the room! The room’s spectacular mural took three full days to complete.
You can tour the home for FREE Saturdays (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Sundays (noon to 5 p.m.) until May 11. While there is no fee to enter the house, donations will be accepted for the Make-a-Wish Foundation of North Texas. For your convenience, parking is available at The Market at Highland Village shopping center at the northeast corner of FM 407 and FM 2499 where a shuttle will take you to and from the house.
Come out and see all the home has to offer! We’d love to see you and can’t wait to hear what you think!
