A Luxurious Family Home: The Master Retreat

For most people, the master bedroom is one of the most important rooms in the house. It’s where we retreat at the end of the day: to relax and rejuvenate from all the day’s stressors and responsibilities. And that’s exactly why it’s essential that the room’s decor reflects the needs and personalities of those who reside in it.

We recently featured a grand living room we designed for clients desiring an elegant and family-friendly home. We were also fortunate enough to design their master retreat and, once again, luxury and practicality were the ultimate goals.

Read on for all the exciting changes we made!

The Master Retreat

What’s better than snuggling up with your children or family pets at the end of the day? Our clients would answer, “not much!” Our solution for luxurious, but family-friendly bedding: machine-washable silk fabric [read more about other luxurious fabrics]! Custom ottomans were also created and treated to resist stains. And opulent window treatments were designed to complement the room’s color scheme, but crafted to not obstruct the view of the beautiful backyard.

Repurposing Old Favorites

We’ve talked before about the importance of repurposing existing furniture, especially when sentimental value is involved. Keeping this in mind, we included an existing and favorite chair of our clients into the design and treated it to resist stains. Adding to it’s charm, we placed a side table and an elegant floor lamp for reading and ambient lighting. It’s sure to remain a favorite seat in the house!

Custom Goodies

Beautifully designed custom artwork was created with the likeness of their children playing on the beach, providing fond memories of a family vacation. And textured wallpaper in a pale blue with a light seeded swirl adorns the walls and reflects light beautifully! To further add contrast and depth, we painted the ceiling a deeper shade of blue.

A custom media dresser was installed to house and hide the TV and other media components, making the room cleaner and more family-friendly without compromising on style. And, of course, accessories were added to finish the entire look.

A Special Surprise!

Finally, even our clients’ beloved pooches were given a special treat! Dog bedding to match the room’s new decor was crafted from sumptuous, washable velvet. Needless to say, someone was very happy!
