Color Trends We Love for 2019

It’s that time of year again when tastemakers release their predictions for next year’s color trends. These offer an exciting glimpse into some design choices we will see in 2019.
Pantone’s predictions share with us, “empowering colors that provide confidence and spirit; colors that are uplifting; joyful hues that lend themselves to playful expressionism and take us down a path of creative and unexpected combinations.”
Take, for example, the blue above. This is one of my favorite colors! I’m especially fond of the Royal Blue that Pantone chose as one of their 2019 color trends. Blue can be paired with so many colors and is especially striking in a monotone color scheme. Psychologically, it calls to mind feelings of calmness or serenity, and is described by many as peaceful, tranquil, secure, and orderly.

A second Pantone color trend prediction for 2019 is a warm, sunny yellow. This would brighten up even the dreariest of spaces. Used in small doses, it’s energizing and happy! Yellow is the most noticeable of all colors by the human eye, evoking happiness and optimism, as well as creativity. It is the color of high energy, enthusiasm, hope, fun, and cheerfulness.

Tomato red is a third color trend prediction from Pantone for 2019. This is happy and bright and works with so many other colors. It attracts attention more than any other color and raises the heart rate as well as metabolism and respiration. It is often associated with energy, strength, power, and determination as well as passion, desire, and love.

A fourth color trend prediction for 2019 is coral, a year-round color, especially when paired with neutrals blues and greens. Just a pop of coral will make any room feel alive!
As a mixture of red, yellow, and white, it has the elements of all three. As I mentioned above, red stimulates our senses and is a color of excitement. Yellow brings on happiness and optimism. So coral is a fabulous color for any space to elevate the mood.

Deep crimson is a fifth Pantone color trend that coincides with the earthy tones trends from Sherwin-Williams. It’s warm and luxurious and oh so autumnal. Because it is a mix of red and brown, it has the elements of both. Brown is about earthiness and feeling nurtured and supported.

Sherwin-Williams brings us a beautiful color trend prediction for 2019, a color called Cavern Clay. They describe the hue as a “warm terracotta color with ancient, elemental roots,” and say it’s a “nod to midcentury modern style, but with the soul of the American Southwest, which together create the desert modern aesthetic.” Isn’t it lovely?
