Orange is a powerful color, one that is associated with joy, adventure, and creativity. It combines the warmth and happiness of yellow with the energy and stimulation of red, and it's also thought to invoke feelings of optimism. It's also intimidating for a lot of people, who might admire an orange interior, but never consider using it themselves. What a shame!
So for this week's Color Crush color palette, I've chosen a photo of an orange butterfly as my jumping-off point. As you can see, orange works with a lot of other hues and complements them beautifully. I wouldn't recommend using bright orange as a whole-room color because it can stimulate the appetite and raise the heartbeat, but when it is an accent, its vibrancy can't be beat! Try pairing shades of orange with pinks, greens, and neutrals for an inspired look. You can always bring home paint chips, swatches of fabric, or even throw pillows and blankets to "practice" before you commit to a color palette.
