High Point Market Trends to Watch Spring 2017

One of my favorite events is High Point Market in North Carolina. It’s the biggest furnishings industry trade show in the world, bringing more than 75,000 people to that area every six months. Energy and inspiration abound among the home furnishings buyers, interior designers, and architects there!

The next High Point Market is going on April 22 to 26. I love seeing the new trends happening in the interior design world and learning from my colleagues in the interior design community around the globe. It’s incredible what you can see in the 11.5 million square feet of showspace — and a real workout every day! There are literally tens of thousands of new product introductions.
I’d like to share with you a few fun High Point Market trends from tastemakers and style watchers.

Glam Meets Geometric

From Style Spotter Michelle Jennings Wiebe, Studio M, Inc., comes this prediction of glam meets geometric. “Products that are both luxurious and aesthetically interesting are always on my radar,” she said. “Glamorous finishes and details such as fringe and geometric patterns, mixed with multi-purpose functionality are the perfect combination when it comes to interior design.”

Natural Beauty

Style Spotter Anishka Clarke and Niya Bascom, Ishka Designs, predicts natural beauty as a big trend in 2017. “We are drawn to unexpected material compositions, and our picks celebrate craftsmanship, materiality and simplicity,” they said.

Organic and Refined

Finally, Style Spotter Ron Woodson and Jaime Rummerfield, Woodson & Rummerfield’s House of Design, predict organic and refined. “Natural forms, handcrafted from exquisite materials into artful furnishings, can make elegant, whimsical, or thoroughly brilliant statements that define style in unique and unexpected ways,” they said.
If you’re going to High Point, I hope you have a wonderful time and find what you’re looking for. As they say, if you can’t find it in High Point…it probably doesn’t exist!
