Color Crush: Butterfly and Flower

Color Crush: Butterfly and Flower | Barbara Gilbert Interiors | Interior Design Dallas
I love creating color palettes for my bi-weekly Color Crush feature here on the Barbara Gilbert Interiors blog. This week, I’ve chosen one of my favorite subjects, a butterfly. I think they’re one of the Lord’s loveliest creatures, and I love their gorgeous hues, from the swallowtail to the monarch. I believe the butterfly pictured above is called the Tawny Mime, a native of India.
This color palette from the Tawny Mime is full of soft shades and a lush green. This would create a pretty bedroom, perhaps for a girl. But pink is not just for kids — I have been seeing more people using a soft pink as their neutral wall color instead of a gray or beige and it has a calming effect on people. With the soft pink and green as a backdrop, the more saturated colors would really pop as accents, and the deep brown would be a good shade for the wood in the room.
