BIG NEWS: BGI Transitions to Amy Guess

I started Barbara Gilbert Interiors in 2006 and it’s been a fascinating journey. As a business owner, I have been blessed beyond my wildest dreams.

For almost seven of those years, I’ve employed Amy Guess as Lead Designer and together, we have designed some spectacular spaces, won multiple awards, and become friends with our many clients.

My BIG news is that I am retiring, selling the business to Amy Guess, and stepping into the role of consultant.

Amy has the same work ethic, caring attitude, and business philosophy as I do. She is an extremely talented designer and I am thrilled that she will be taking over Barbara Gilbert Interiors. This has been my wish for the last few years.

Amy will take care of clients just like I always have done and this will be a smooth, seamless transition. I know BGI is in capable hands with Amy. If you are a current client, you already know Amy well as she is the lead designer for all of our projects. But, if you are not, I would love to tell you a little about her!

Amy Guess graduated with a BS in Interior Design from the University of Texas at Arlington, a heavily architecturally based and accredited program. She is an award-winning designer with the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), and has served on the Dallas board. To stay abreast of advancement and trends, Amy regularly takes continuing education courses. She really has her finger on the pulse of the industry!

One of the biggest recommendations I can make is that Amy is a truly collaborative partner in the design process. From contractors and other members of the BGI team to client relationships, Amy strives to create an enjoyable and stress-free experience for everyone!

Paying attention to the function of a space as much as its aesthetics makes a client’s dwelling highly livable and comfortable. This is one of Amy’s strong suits, and she uses AutoCAD/Space Planning for all projects and reviews CAD plans carefully with a fresh perspective paying close attention to every detail.

She has always been a vital contributor to all projects at BGI, creating a material schedule compilation for all new builds and remodels (organized data & visual sheets for contractors/builders). She is also adept at 3D rendering, hand sketching, and has a great eye for color, texture, and pattern.

Amy specializes in detailed furniture space plans, finish-out elevations for remodels, and new construction. She’s been indispensable in projects ranging from large residential homes to boutique stores and offices.

On a personal note, Amy is happily married to her husband Adam and mom to an adorable three year old, Harrison. She’s a life long dog lover with two mini schnauzers (Sammie & Barxi) and enjoys playing outside with her family every chance she gets!
