Neutral with a Pop!

When does an interior designer turn into a kid in a candy store? When she walks into a room full of fabric swatches!
Selecting fabrics and putting together a design color board for clients is one of my favorite things to do. It’s almost like being a child creating the perfect ice cream sundae…picking the right flavors, adding sprinkles, syrups, whip cream and then finishing it all off with a cherry on top. Of course, instead of ice cream and confections, it’s luxurious fabrics, rugs and furnishings. A smile is spreading across my face just thinking about it!
We recently created this color board for a client and it represents my design philosophy so well – neutral with a pop!

Anyone who knows me knows I love color, but I like to design with neutral furnishings and add color through accessories. Designing around neutrals helps insure timeless design, instead of design based on trends.
Neutral fabrics also ground a room and let artwork and accents take center stage. But best of all, when a client desires a change, accessories can be quickly and inexpensively changed out to create an entirely new room!
Take this color board for example. A simple change in throws and pillows from yellows to reds would transform the room. And the depth of browns and grays in the design creates a rich and luxurious room that never bores.
The sofa with throw pillows shown is representative of the style to be used only. A custom sofa with pillows will be created using the fabric swatches shown. The custom palette includes even the smallest details, like the chair welt and base tape trim.
The current design’s pops of sunset yellow will invigorate the space and breathe life into room. I love the Tibetan hand-knotted rug in a silk and wool blend. It’s subtle, but gorgeous! What’s your favorite piece?

A partial furniture install can still make a big i A partial furniture install can still make a big impact ✨ This double-width living room in Flower Mound had a tricky floor plan, so we focused on creating connection. By linking the fireplace seating area with the TV seating zone, the space now flows naturally and feels intentional. The swivel chairs do the heavy lifting here, letting you turn toward whichever conversation feels right in the moment. We also love a smart detail moment. The custom L-shaped kitchen runner was created from remnant material, maximizing both function and value while keeping the look cohesive throughout the home. Thoughtful planning always pays off. If you’re navigating an awkward layout or planning a phased install, we’d love to help. #BGIDesignGroup #InteriorDesign #FurnitureInstall #LivingRoomDesign #FlowerMoundTX #DesignSolutions #ThoughtfulDesign #CustomInteriors

This space is finally getting its pattern moment, and the transformation is already taking shape. There’s nothing like watching a room shift the second the first panel goes up. Can’t wait to show you the full reveal once the install is complete. #WallpaperWednesdayEveryday #DesignInProgress

We’re grateful to play a small role by mentoring students from @hsiddallas. We ♥️ events like this that support families and brings the community together. ❤️ Here’s a little glimpse at the magic. #BGIDesign #StJudeFundraiser #HolidayInspiration #NewBuildDesign #CommunitySupport #ChristmasDesign #DesignerLife #FestiveHomes #DesignDallas

Design doesn’t have to be loud to make an impact — sometimes it’s the subtle tones and textures that shift the whole mood. Ready to reimagine a room in 2026? Let’s start the conversation. #BGIInteriors #SundayVibes #ModernComfort #DesignThatFeelsGood #DallasDesign
