Blogging: A Designer's Tour Guide
Hey fellow Interior Designers! Finding new clientele as a designer is often a mixture of word of mouth, social media exposure, and hoping that someone will click on that link or that one picture to find your website. And even at that point there’s no guarantee they will make that call or send that email. Finding more ways to stand out is becoming more and more important as social media is saturated with designers trying to achieve the same goal. How can you stand out in a world exploding with interior designers?
When someone moves into a new town, all that unpacking and trying to get everything settled can be draining. The last thing anyone wants to do with a half-unpacked kitchen is cook. Searching for nearby restaurants is the natural next step, and finding local hot spots is already on every new homeowner’s list when they’ve moved to a new city. How could this help you as a designer? New homeowners could soon be on the hunt for a designer in their new area!
But how do you get their attention when they’re looking for a place to eat? Write a blog!
Writing a blog post, or several, that highlight some of your favorite restaurants and other hang outs, like coffee shops, may just turn up in someone’s search for a nearby restaurant. People often read reviews of local places, and your blog post could be the first set of reviews to pop up! Including places with awesome interiors and true local flair could help show your eye for design. And they might just be tempted to check out your website!
Becoming familiar with the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) feature on your website allows you to add key words that people might search. It could help send your blog post to the forefront of the results page. And who doesn’t love that?
Marketing techniques are as quickly changing as style itself. What are some innovative ways you’ve thought outside of the box to gain clientele? Or what have you found doesn’t work as well as it did ten years ago? Let us know in the comments!
