BGI Receives 2013 Designer of the Year Award

logoWe are honored and thrilled to announce Barbara Gilbert Interiors has received a Designer of the Year Award from the national Interior Design Society!
We received the first place award for Bath Designs under $30,000 for a glamorous master bathroom remodel. The design of the room was based on our client’s desire for a fresh, updated space with a subtle and feminine palette to reflect her personal style. She was beginning a new phase in her life and wanted her home to reflect her fresh start and new outlook.
We couldn’t be happier with the final result and the fact the design has won not one, but two awards is icing on the cake! The room’s design also won first place in the 2013 American Society of Interior Designers (AISD)  Legacy of Design Awards for Bathroom Design last year. Here are all the details of the design and the room’s transformation!

Chinioserie wallpaper, brassy gold hardware and outdated fixtures were replaced with modern fixtures and finishes. Slate tile with undertones of rust and dark blues was selected for the floor and shower surround, while a neutral marble was selected for the countertops and bathtub surround. To add contrast to the design, a reflective mosaic of glass tiles in complimentary rust and blue tones was used in the shower and bathtub skirt.

An exquisite Swarovski crystal chandelier, salvaged and refinished, was custom designed to add dazzling glamour to the room and matching Swarovski crystal knobs were installed to the glazed cabinetry as functional, elegant adornments. A local glass studio was also commissioned to create a vase and rondel for pops of color.

Recessed lighting was added for softer, task lighting and custom framed mirrors in a brushed, antique gold finish were hung above both vanities. Finally, a textural wallcovering in an elegant champagne hue transformed the surface of the walls and added depth to the space.
Special thanks go to Vetro Glass Blowing Studio and Gallery, Tony Edwards Remodeling and Pettigrew Luxury Furnishings for their expertise and assistance with this project. But most importantly, we’d like to thank our client for the trust and confidence she placed in us!

Modern homes can still feel warm and connected — a Modern homes can still feel warm and connected — and one of our favorite ways to do that is by repeating a tone throughout the space. ✨ In this project, we carried shades of teal from room to room in different ways: cabinetry, tile, textiles, artwork, even accessories. Nothing feels overly “matchy,” but the subtle repetition keeps the open floor plan feeling intentional and cohesive from every angle. Think of it as giving your home a color story instead of just a color palette. 💙 #BGIDesign #InteriorDesign #ModernInteriors #OpenConceptLiving #ColorStory LuxuryInteriors TexasInteriors DesignDetails ModernHome InteriorStyling
